Yoga or Pilates

Nowadays, yoga and pilates are two extremely popular options in fitness classes. I recently have practiced pilates at studio 26 and I love it. Even though the two are useful for your health, it is difficult to decide what to choose. Many people who have no experience to try them and for those who want to know more, I suggest to compare these two types of exercises. The two differ in several areas.

Purpose: Both of these practices connect body and mind. Yoga focuses on your breathe and meditation. In contrast, pilates focuses on making body supple and fit with using the mind.

Goals of the activities: Yoga tried to look into inner of practitioners and to know their inner worlds. That’s why the main goal of yoga is relaxation of stress, but pilates gives the opportunity to make oneself healthier and to rehabilitate.

Dynamic movement: People, who don’t like the dynamic movements, prefer yoga because most postures are static. They might think pilates is harder than yoga. There are two types of pilates. The exercises are on the floor by using disk or ribbon. Another one use special equipments. In fact, yoga might focus more on stretching than Pilates. Of course, stretching yoga is not easier that pilates.

The benefits: Yoga is the best option for those who want to develop the flexibility and find the peace of mind. If you lack of flexibility, back pain problem and you want to tighten the press and the hips, then you should practice pilates classes.

Conclusion, to make your decision, you’d better to take both classes of yoga and pilates. Choose what you like! If you’re already experienced in Pilates and yoga, you can get the full benefits from both exercises. I recommended you highly. What do you think?
